An officer began driving to that residence, the report said, and upon turning on Paxton, saw Jud J. Reidy driving wildly toward the cop car, the report said. That's when he allegedly drove off the roadway after striking the curb and driving straight over a mailbox.

" … Reidy asked why he was being pulled over and I told him that he just struck his neighbor's mailbox," the report said. " … Reidy said he had been golfing and then had gone to Fox's in Mokena for pizza and beers."

He reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the Tinley Park Police Department. He was charged with improper lane use, failure to give information after damaging property and driving under the influence of alcohol.
