Drunken Man Drives Home, Tells Cops About it

Police said a man who claimed he drove home intoxicated over the weekend called police after someone stole his wallet.

A local man tattled on himself for drinking and driving last week when he called to tell them that someone broke into his car.

He said he didn't remember if he locked the doors to his four-door because he was sloshed when he drove it home slightly after midnight, police said. When he went to get his wallet from the center console the next day, it was nowhere to be found.

"I spoke the victim … who related in summary that when he arrived home at 12:30 a.m., he was drunk and did not think he locked his black 2002 Oldsmobile Alero … as he parked it in the driveway," the report said.

The alleged break-in occurred in the 7200 block of West 170th Place in Park, according to the report. The man said his wallet contained his driver's license, Illinois state identification card, $180 cash, his social security card and a debit card.

No charges had been filed as of Oct. 17 in connection with the report.
