Dude, Where Did I Crash My Car?

March 31: Jerome Martin, 24, of North Cottage Grove Avenue in Glenwood (full address not given), was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance, according to a report.

Martin was found at about 4:45 p.m. near the 3000 block of 183rd Street while police were investigating a 2006 white Chevrolet Monte Carlo that had extensive damage, according to the report. He reportedly had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Martin told police he was walking home to Glenwood after drinking in Chicago. He also admitted to driving drunk and striking a tree but couldn't remember where the crash happened.

Martin is due on Markham court on May 8.

"Pulled" A Sink Off The Wall

March 30: Police were called at about 1:20 a.m. to El Gallo Restaurant, 10164 S. Roberts Rd., according to a report. A man and woman had pulled a sink off the wall of a bathroom and then left in a Ford.

Slap At The Theater

March 29: Scott R. DeGroate, 45, of the 2500 block of Cass Street in Joliet, was charged with battery, according to a report. He is accused of following a woman into the AMC Theaters after a traffic incident and slapping her across the face, breaking her glasses. He was released after posting bond.

Burglar Says, 'Hey,' to Resident

March 27: Someone broke into a home at about 6 p.m. on March 27 in the 16400 block of Forest Avenue, according to a report.

A man who lives in the basement of the house went upstairs to the kitchen and was greeted by a burglary who said “Hey.” The resident responded by saying “Hey” just before the burglar took off running. A laptop was later found to be missing from an upstairs bedroom, the report stated.

The burglar is described as a 5-foot, 10-inch white man in his late teens or early 20s with a thin build, short brown hair, black glasses and was wearing a gray sweatshirt and tennis shoes.

Nap Time?

March 23: Ricky L. Stevenson, 44, of the 100 block of Broadway in Chicago Heights, was charged with criminal trespass to property, according to a report. He is accused of lying on the floor and causing a disturbance at about 4:50 p.m. inside Church's Chicken, 1341 Halsted St. Police had been called three times before regarding Stevenson.
