An 86-year-old woman was swindled out of $8,000 after she was hoodwinked in the Walt's Foods parking lot.

Tinley Park police are looking for information about the two women who approached the shopper at about 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11.

The elderly woman told police she was leaving Walt’s Foods when two women told her they had just found $100,000 in a wallet in the parking lot, police said.

The women told her they were willing to split the money but first needed $8,000 in cash for “tax purposes,” according to the report. She withdrew the money from her bank, handed it over and then waited while the other women left to go speak with their lawyer, police said.

The elderly woman said they were supposed to return with the necessary “paperwork” but never did.
