Expensive Electronics, Coin Collections Grabbed in Home Burglary

A brother and sister left a Tinley Park home for the night and returned to find the place tossed over, according to a report.

Several TVs, two coin collections and an assortment of expensive electronics were among the items taken in a home burglary on June 11, according to police.

A brother and sister went out at about 7:30 p.m. and returned to the sister's home in the 16100 block of Creekmont Court at about 11:30 p.m. to find front door open and called 911, a Tinley Park police report states. The house was locked when they left. After determining that no burglars were still around, officers entered the house found several rooms ransacked.

The following items were missing from rooms around the house:

  • Living room—46-inch 3D television, Blu-Ray player, 2 pairs of 3D glasses and assorted DVDs
  • Living room closet—Two backpacks containing two Nintendo DS systems, a Sony PS3, an Apple iPad, an MP3 player and assorted games and other electronics
  • West bedroom—32-inch television, an antique watch and two other watches
  • East bedroom—32-inch television, $700 cash, perfumes, a collection of two dollar bills, a collection of Susan B. Anthony dollar coins and a collection of assorted silver coins

The victims had no idea who could have broken into the house, according to the report. An evidence technician was called and crime scene photos were taken.

In all, hundreds or, possibly, thousands of dollars worth of items were taken in the burglary.

No arrest were reported.
