Here's a look at where things stand in the investigation.

What We Know

The victim: Thomas P. Mastro, 24, of the 6900 block of Coachwood Trail in Tinley Park, was killed after being shot in the chest. His parents live in Oak Lawn. Mastro would've turned 25 on March 26, according to public records.

A man who identified himself as Mastro's brother didn't want to talk about the incident when a Patch reporter spoke to him Friday at the Coachwood Trail address.

The suspect: Tinley Park police have not released any information on the man who was taken in to custody Thursday. As of Friday night, the suspect had not been charged but was still being held. Tinley Park police and the Cook County State's Attorney's Office were working on the ongoing investigation, Chief Steve Neubauer said.

The motive: Police have said Mastro and the shooter got into an argument in the parking lot, but Neubauer said Friday he wouldn't comment on the reason behind the argument.
