Fire Destroys Garage on Homan Avenue

A fire swept through a backyard garage Friday morning, destroying the structure and its contents.

A fire destroyed a garage on the 9200 block of Homan Avenue Friday morning and caused damage to neighboring garages.

The fire started early Friday morning and completely incinerated a detached garage. A burnt out car could also be seen in the space that was formerly occupied by the garage.

The flames also caused damage to a garage next door leaving a wall and roof partially charred.

Evergreen Park Fire Department Chief Ronald Kleinhaus said no one was injured and the cause was under investigation.

The fire was extinguished within about 15 minutes, he said.

Here is the picture i took while we called 911. It started around 4am and began with a large gunshot/firework like bang, shortly thereafter flames ensued. http://i45.tinypic.com/iyo4d2.jpg
