Four-man Team of Shoplifters Target Video Games

Police pick up a team of four on attempted video game theft and suspect their involvement in a previous cell phone theft.

A team of four shoplifters was busted at Walmart for attempting to leave the store with more than $500 worth of video games.

Police say four men from Joliet were arrested Oct. 24 after security staff at Walmart in the 500 block of E. Route 30, spotted them leaving the store without paying for a stack of video games.

The four were identified as:

  • Ivory Blackwell, 20
  • Bryson Carter, 18
  • James Haydon-Winters, 20
  • Shaquan Meadows-Tanzy, 19

According to the report, employees from the store identified them as allegedly the same team that walked off with cell phones on Oct. 19. All four were taken to the Will County jail. Carter and Blackwell were charged with felony retail theft and bond was set at $25,000 and $15,000 respectively. Haydon-Winters and Meadows-Tanzy were charged with misdemeanor theft.

It's not only Wal Mart. Things happen anywhere, anytime. It's only because it is Wal Mart, that they do put it in the media. New Lenox is well known for not advertising crime, due to making "New Lenox" look bad.. It's happened at Target, Kmart, gas stations, Walgreens,& CVS. It's the way society has become, no matter where you go.

One issue Walmart doesn't show up for the criminal hearings of the shop lifters. They then submit to be reemburst thru small claims or thru a collection company. The thiefs know this and just repeat repeat repeat. So much work the police department have to do for no value.

Cindy, point taken. Usually just a street address is given for the scene of the crime if the information is actually released. I happen to like that Walmart is in NL and do shop there. Just a bit strange it happened in NL when the same store(s) are located in Joliet

Theft like this has been happening at the New Lenox Kmart for YEARS! 9 times out of ten they get away with it, traveling from Walmart to Walmart. Knowing what kind of scum is shopping (stealing) in New Lenox means we need to be more careful and observant of our surroundings.

Walmart is on the West side in Joliet. New Lenox is extremely close to the East side of Joliet. Nevertheless, crime happens everywhere, so let's not stereotype stores or people.
