Man Throws Road Cone Into Beer Garden, Chipping Patron's Tooth

Shainn J. Gill, 23, of Wheeling, was charged with battery and resisting arrest, according to Tinley Park police.

A Wheeling man who tossed an orange parking cone into a crowd inside a beer garden was chased down by officers, Tinley Park police said.

Shainn J. Gill, 23, of the 100 block of Deborah Lane, was charged with battery and resisting arrest July 26, police said.

Police on patrol at about 12:40 a.m., near JW Hollsteins, 17358 Oak Park Ave., saw Gill being escorted out of the bar by security, police said. He appeared to be upset as he walked through the parking lot. Officers continued to watch until Gill allegedly walked up to the beer garden and tossed a large orange traffic cone over the fence.

Officers ran after Gill, who shouted, "I didn't do nothing," police said. Gill hopped two fences and ran across railroad property before officers caught up to him in the 17400 block of 68th Court.

A 33-year-old man had been struck in the left shoulder by the cone, which caused him to bite down and chip one of his teeth, police said.

Gill was held for a bond hearing July 26.
