Hundreds of Doughnuts Dumped on Tinley Park Resident's Lawn

Police said several bags filled with doughnuts were littered on a lawn on West 164th Street, and this wasn't the first time it's happened.

A woman called the cops over the weekend after finding hundreds of doughnuts littered about her lawn.

And it wasn't the first time, she told . Saturday's incident was the fourth of its kind in the 8200 block of West 164th Street, where trash bags from a local Dunkin Donuts were dumped and broken, according to the police report.

The resident didn't report the past three incidents, she said, but found the most recent bags around 9 p.m. Saturday. They were split open so their contents—mostly Dunkin Donuts drink cups, paper products and dirty napkins—were strewn about the property, according to the report. Some doughnuts were smeared on parked vehicles, the woman said.

Police used store receipts from inside the trash bags to trace them to the Dunkin Donuts at 7935 W. 171st St. A store manager there told police that there's no video surveillance by the dumpsters, only inside the store.

While cops were going door-to-door to question neighbors, they found one who said he was driving home around 9 p.m. and saw a teenage girl standing near the corner of Tanbark Drive and 164th Street "looking out of place," according to the report.

When the man pulled into his driveway, he saw about eight teenage boys run across the street and get into two cars that were parked on Tanbark. The girl also got in one of the cars. The witness didn't know any of the kids and didn't take down any license plates, he said.

Police said the victim's son attends a local high school. The boy didn't have any idea who was responsible for the late-night bakery dumping and noted that each incident has involved excessive quantities of doughnuts, according to the report.
