Lightning Strike Damages Brookside Glen Home

Firefighters were called late Tuesday for a lightning strike.

Tinley Firefighters weren't able to determine exactly where a lightning bolt touched down in Brookside Glen last night, but they it left one home with electrical damage.

They were called around 10:40 p.m. to a home in the 8600 block of Brookside Glen Drive, Tinley Fire Chief Ken Dunn said. The homeowner believed the residence was struck by lightning.

"There was no fire and no one was injured," Dunn said. "It was the only call we had during the storm."

Crews remained on scene to minimize the chance of any flare-ups.

"Lightning is very strange," he said. "Sometimes it hits hot and starts a fire, other times it hits cold and blows stuff apart. It really is just a crazy thing."
