Liquor Snagged; Counterfeit $100 Bill at McDonald's and More

SATURDAY, AUG. 11

Prescription Pills, Change Stolen

Residents who were being evicted from an apartment in the 6700 block of West 174th Street in left a few items behind Aug. 3 with intent to retrieve them, according to a police report. They went back Aug. 11 and found that their prescription drugs including Zyrtec, Singular brand antihistamine, Neurontin, Dilaudid and Norco were gone, police said. Also missing was a jar of change. The tenants said the landlord hadn't gone through proper eviction proceedings while they were leaving. They believed he may have taken the items.

CarMax Vehicle Taken 

Police said that between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., someone stole a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox that had been taken to the auto repair shop at CarMax, 18800 Oak Park Ave., . The vehicle was left by a mechanic in the parking lot of the business and the keys were placed in a desk in the service area. Sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., the keys were stolen and so was the vehicle. The case remained under investigation Aug. 13. 

Warrant Arrest

Sheila G. Pulphus, 52, of the 12600 block of South Princeton in Chicago was arrested at an unknown place and time on a warrant out of for driving with a suspended license. Her bail was set at $3,000.

Liquor Snagged

A heavy-set man wearing a white T-shirt, white shorts, and a backpack stole four bottles of Ciroc alcohol from Jewel-Osco, 17117 S. Harlem Ave., . The man entered the store around 4:25 p.m. and filled a cart with some grocery items.

Video surveillance then shows him abandoning the cart and entering the men's bathroom. An employee went into the bathroom after the man left it and found four security labels that were on the liquor bottles, according to the report. Three peach and one coconut Ciroc were reported missing from the store's inventory. They were priced at a total of $153.42. 

THURSDAY, AUG. 9

Warrant Arrest

William J. Broderick, 55, of the 200 block of Julia Street in Lemont, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. in the 17200 block of Oak Park Avenue on a warrant for driving under the influence. His bail was set at $15,000.

Shotgun Missing

A woman living in the 7200 block of West 174th Street in  told police that sometime between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., someone stole a shotgun from her home. Police said there was no evidence of a break-in and that though the woman said she wasn't home during the day, neighbors said they'd spotted her outside with others. The case remained under investigation Aug. 13. 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 8

Counterfeit $100 Bill

A woman in the drive-through at McDonald's, 17171 S. Harlem Ave., , used a counterfeit $100 as payment for her food, police said. The woman said she got the bill from her boss who told her to use it to buy food for she and her co-workers. The boss said he didn't know the bill was counterfeit. It was turned over to the U.S. Secret Service. 

SATURDAY, JULY 28

Battery

Daniel A. Cordero, 22, of the 3600 block of West 119th Street in Alsip, was arrested around 11 p.m. at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 S. Ridgeland Ave., , and charged with battery.
