Man Accused of Passing Funny Money in Multiple Area Pharmacies

Chicago Heights and Tinley Park police collaborated to arrest a man believed to be circulating counterfeit cash around the Southland.

Employees at a local pharmacy called to report that a man used three counterfeit $20 bills last week to buy diapers.

Kevin Hatter, 23, no address given, left the Walgreens at 8400 W. 171st St. in around 6:45 p.m. Nov. 2, and went directly to a branch in Chicago Heights where he tried to return the diapers, police said.

He was identified by , who arrested and charged him with fraud, according to the report. An officer with the department said Hatter had made multiple returns from several Walgreens to the Chicago Heights store.

A U.S. Secret Service agent was called to pick up the funny money and said he would do so on Monday. Police gathered video surveillance of the transactions, according to the report.
