Man Bolts After Using Fake Credit Card; Clothes Snatched from Old Navy

SUNDAY, OCT. 30

Theft at Menards

Police arrested Paul K. Zelenka, 26, of the 6900 block of West 88th Place in Bridgeview, around 3:30 p.m. at Menards, 6851 159th St., . He was charged with retail theft after police said he concealed $186.37 worth of items in his clothing and left the store without paying. Among the items were outlet covers, reinforced cutoff wheels and a 60-grit diamond paper tool, according to the report.

Warrant Arrest

Mohammed A. Muzahem, 26, of the 8400 block of Cherry Hill Lane in Tinley Park, was arrested around 9:50 a.m. at his home on a warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff's Office. His bail was set at $15,000.

Man Bolts After Using Fake Credit Card

An employee at Circle K gas station, 8401 159th St., Tinley Park, called police around 6:20 p.m., just after a man made a $250 purchase at the station using a fake credit card. The employee said he rang the man up for a $257.95 purchase and asked for identification to verify that his name matched the card. Although the name checked out, the last four digits of the credit card didn't match the receipt. When the employee asked the man about the mis-match, the man ran out of the store in an unknown direction, leaving the card behind, police said.

FRIDAY, OCT. 28

Shoplifting at Kohl's

Kelle S. Warnsley, 26, of the 6300 block of Patricia Drive in Matteson, was arrested around 8:10 p.m. at Kohl's, 7500 W. 191st St. in Tinley Park, and charged with retail theft. Police said she tried stealing $146.97 worth of merchandise from the store, including a men's shirt, men's jacket, box of perfume and a cross necklace. Her bail was set at $1,500.

Threatening Phone Calls

A man called the cops around 9 p.m. after he received a threatening phone message while at work in the 18400 block of 76th Avenue in Tinley Park. The caller said the victim needed to hand over all of his money by the next day, that he knew where he lived and would kill him if he didn't comply. traced the phone number and contacted a potential caller. They were still investigating the case Monday.

THURSDAY, OCT. 27   

Clothes Snatched from Old Navy

Leslie R. Williams, 50, of the 5000 block of Harbor Lane in Richton Park, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of West 191st Street in Tinley Park. Officers pulled over the car she was driving after they said they got a report that she was involved in a retail theft at Old Navy, 7410 W. 191st St., Tinley Park.

A loss prevention officer at the store said he watched Williams and two others place clothing into a shopping cart and then into used Old Navy bags they had brought into the store with them, police said. The group then paid for a couple items and said they needed to return others, pointing to the filled bags, according to the report.

They left the store even after a loss prevention officer tried to stop them, the report said. During the traffic stop, police found $253 of shoplifted items in the car, according to the report. Williams said she was solely responsible, the report said. She was charged with retail theft and was also found to have an active failure-to-appear warrant for driving under the influence out of Chicago Heights. She posted bond for each charge and was released.

Missing License Plate

A man called police to report that sometime between 9 a.m. Oct. 22 and 1 p.m. Oct. 26, the license plate on his 2005 MEB trailer went missing, according to the report. The man said the plate may have fallen off the trailer while driving to Tinley Park from Johnson County.

SUNDAY, OCT. 23

A Car Gets Keyed

A woman called police to report that sometime between 2:20 p.m. and 5:25 p.m., someone keyed her car while it was parked at Odyssey Fun World, 19111 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park. Police said the scratches are along the passenger side of the vehicle's back quarter panel.
