Man Hospitalized After Crash at Oak Park Ave. and 167th

Tinley Park firefighters had to cut the man out of his car following a two-car crash at about 8 p.m. Monday.

One man had to be extricated from his car after what Tinley Park Assistant Fire Chief Tom Slepski called "a pretty extensive accident" Monday night.

Details about what caused the man's Saturn and a Jeep to collide at about 8 p.m. by the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and 167th Street will be posted when available. The man, identity as of yet unknown, was taken by ambulance to Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, Slepski said.

The woman driving the Jeep refused treatment, he said.

Efforts to cut the man out of the car were hindered by the rain and the fact the car was a Saturn.

"The Saturn is plastic, so it adds to the efforts of the extrication," Slepski said.

Tinley Park police assisted, diverting traffic. A small section of 167th Street west of the intersection was briefly closed to traffic.
