Man Struck and Killed by Metra in Tinley Park

A man who was walking southbound on the train tracks early this morning was killed by an outbound Metra train.

Officials have still not identified a man who was struck shortly after midnight by an outbound Metra train making its way through  on the Rock Island line.

An autopsy of the man, who is likely in his 30s, is scheduled for later today, according to the .

The train, No. 231, was the last outbound train on the line, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said Monday morning. The accident occurred at 12:10 a.m., about 30 minutes before the train would have gotten to Joliet. It was delayed about two hours.
