Neighbor Sees Burglar 'Dangling' From Second-Story Window, and More

Also in today's police reports, a woman is accused of leaving the scene of an accident, a man reportedly violates an order of protection and a pair shoplifts at Kmart. These reports are dated April 2, 9, 16, 18-19.

THURSDAY, APRIL 19

Leaving the Scene

Victoria E. Loffredo, 49, of the 9400 block of East Quail Trail in , was arrested around midnight at the , 7850 W. 183rd St. She was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Violating an Order of Protection

David S. Powers, 43, of the 4100 block of South Archer Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 10 p.m. near the intersection of 76th Avenue and 165th Street in and charged with disobeying a stop sign and violating an order of protection.

Police Find Stray Bike

Officers found an abandoned BMX bicycle in the 8300 block of West Queen Victoria Lane in around 5 p.m. They were called to the area regarding juveniles acting suspiciously, according to the report. 

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Mark J. Bryk Jr., 24, of the 8700 block of South 80th Court in Hickory Hills, was arrested around 2:45 p.m. at an unspecified location on a warrant out of the for possession of a controlled substance.

Man Turns in Keys

A man went to the around 8:30 p.m. to turn in a set of keys he found near 88th Avenue and Brown Lane in Tinley Park. The keys had a distinct key chain on them, police said, and were placed safely into evidence in case someone comes to claim them.

Fire Pit Stolen

A man living in the 17000 block of Oakwood Drive in said that sometime between April 8 and April 16, someone walked off with his outdoor, portable fire pit. The pit was black and brown and had woven sides and a mesh wire top, according to the report.

Neighbor Sees Burglar 'Dangling' From Second-Story Window

Police said a witness to a home burglary saw "legs and feet dangling" out of a second story window shortly before a video game console was reported stolen.

The witness said she was dropping someone off around 1:15 p.m. at a residence neighboring the home where the theft occurred, which was in the 7500 block of 164th Place. Around that time, she saw someone hanging out of an open bedroom window. Later, she saw a person who she described as a teenaged girl walking through the backyard, the report said.

When a resident of the victimized home returned from school, he found an open window in his bedroom. He told police an Xbox 360 game console was missing from his bedroom. Members of the family identified a suspect but charges had not yet been filed as of April 11.

MONDAY, APRIL 2

Shoplifting at Kmart

A security staff member at Super Kmart, 16300 S. Harlem Ave., , said that around 9:20 p.m. two women entered the store together and took off in different directions.

One of the pair stole at least six items of clothing. Security staff said they saw her walk into the dressing room with the items and leave with nothing in her hands or the room. The second woman reportedly stole body lotion and shampoo, as well as a blouse. Police were able to determine the registered owner of the vehicle the pair drove away in. No charges had been filed as of April 16.
