The full text of the sheriff's office Thursday statement is below:

In February, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dawn Hamill, 41, of Tinley Park, after an investigation by the animal crimes unit revealed she had been neglecting and mistreating animals for years through her private business, Dazzle Painted Pasture Animal Rescue/Sanctuary. At that time, she was charged with eight counts of neglect of owner duties and two counts of cruel treatment, all misdemeanors. That investigation led to more than 100 animals being led off of her property and to the care of local animal shelters.

Since then, our two-person unit has received calls from people who have made complaints about the condition of animals they had previously purchased from Hamill. Those complaints were investigated and on March 30, led to seven additional misdemeanor charges being filed against her. She is charged with providing inoculations against rabies without a license, practicing veterinary medicine without a license, forging rabies certificates and other violations of the animal welfare and animal control act.

Her next court date has not yet been set for those new charges.

Ya, from what I understand Dawn will not do any jail time, even if convicted of everything. Which, in the whole sceme of things is fine. Really she just needs a judgement not to be able to handle/own animals anymore, and I will be happy. While its not exactly what everyone hopes for, it is more than likely what will happen. Cook County Sheriff told us that.

She had to know that the stealing, forging, and playing doc. would not amount to any big crimes because it was done to animals not people. And that is wrong. Maybe if it takes a long time to process, the lawyer bills will get to high ,and by the way if she does not work are any donations paying the lawyer bills? , She will have a different kind of jail. People have realize she is a scammer. I hope they do see that and take any legal actions to not let her have living things in her care.

She can't pay for the care of the animals, but she can afford cruises, plastic surgery, and not one, or two, but THREE Hummers?!!?

If Dawn does not get any jail time. She should at the least never be able to have any animals ever again.Dawn should get thousands of hours of community service. With no food, water or a warm place just like what she did to the animals. She should have to pay for what she did.The law needs to be much stricker with these idiots that abuse, neglect and are cruel to animals. We are not talking about a rock,an animal is a living, breathing creature put on this earth for humans to take care of not to abuse them.Dawn you should be ashamed of yourself.I hope you enjoyed your VACATIONS,BOOB JOBS,HUMMERS and whatever else you spent the DONATIONS on.IT CERTAINLY WAS NOT THE ANIMALS.YOU ARE A ROTTEN PERSON WHO NEEDS TO PAY FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.

I heard Dawn on the radio this morning talking about how wonderful she is and the sanctuary is and how much she cares for the animals. Has she cleaned up her act? Why is she permitted to continue being around animals? This is terrifying!
