New Charges Filed Against Dazzle's Painted Pastures Owner
Dawn Hamill of Tinley Park was charged with seven new misdemeanors in addition to eight previous charges of animal neglect and cruelty.
Dawn Hamill of Tinley Park has been charged with seven additional crimes related to the care of animals at Dazzle's Painted Pasture, the , the Cook County Sheriff's Office said Thursday afternoon.
Hamill but the sheriff's office did not detail the charges until late Thursday afternoon. They charges include forging rabies certificates and practicing veterinary medicine without a license, the sheriff's office said.
These add to the Hamill faces over the conditions at the shelter. When it was raided in February, more than 100 animals were rescued. Some animals, including a minature horse, were found dead.

The full text of the sheriff's office Thursday statement is below:
In February, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dawn Hamill, 41, of Tinley Park, after an investigation by the animal crimes unit revealed she had been neglecting and mistreating animals for years through her private business, Dazzle Painted Pasture Animal Rescue/Sanctuary. At that time, she was charged with eight counts of neglect of owner duties and two counts of cruel treatment, all misdemeanors. That investigation led to more than 100 animals being led off of her property and to the care of local animal shelters.
Since then, our two-person unit has received calls from people who have made complaints about the condition of animals they had previously purchased from Hamill. Those complaints were investigated and on March 30, led to seven additional misdemeanor charges being filed against her. She is charged with providing inoculations against rabies without a license, practicing veterinary medicine without a license, forging rabies certificates and other violations of the animal welfare and animal control act.
Her next court date has not yet been set for those new charges.
