One Person Injured in Evening House Fire

Firefighters contained a second-story house fire Saturday, but not before the son of the homeowner was slightly burned from the blaze, a fire department official said.

One person was slightly injured from a fire that damaged the second story of a house in the 16500 block of Evergreen Drive early Saturday evening.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire, said Assistant Chief Steve Klotz.

A fire crew responded to the blaze around 5:30 p.m., and thanks to an "aggressive attack" by the first truck to arrive, the blaze was under control in about 10 minutes, Klotz said. Because of that, damage was contained to the second floor, where it appears to have started, he added.

The son of the homeowner was slightly burned by the fire, although Klotz said he did not know how. The man's burns were treated at the scene, but he refused to be taken to a hospital, Klotz said.
