Orland Woman Shot at in Suspected Road Rage Incident
The woman was driving on I-80 in northwest Indiana when a man driving a pickup truck first tried to run her car into a concrete barrier before firing a small handgun into her car.
Indiana law enforcement officials are looking for a man who fired a gun into a car driven by an Orland Park woman Thursday night.
The 22-year-old woman was driving west on I-80 near Gary, Indiana, around 9:05 p.m. when a dark-colored pickup truck began tailgating her as she drove in the left lane of a four-lane section, according to a release from the Indiana State Police. The truck, driven by a white man, followed closely for about a mile, before moving into the left-center lane, and attempted to push the woman into a concrete wall, according to the release.

The man then drove onto the shoulder and began pushing her to the right, even after she moved over into the left-center lane, police said.
The man then moved to the woman’s right side again, where he waived a silver handgun in the air before firing at the woman’s car, according to the release.

The woman heard a bang, and saw a hole in her passenger door, but was not hit by the bullet, police said. A piece of plastic shrapnel from the door cut her hand, but that was her only injury, and she later declined medical treatment.
