Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Metra Train

The pedestrian was struck shortly before 6 a.m. Friday morning near the 80th Avenue Station.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra train in Tinley Park Friday morning. 

The incident happened at the 80th Avenue station, when inbound train No. 402, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 6:40 a.m., hit and killed a person at or near the station about 5:55 a.m., according to CBS reports.

Train No. 404, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:03 a.m., was operating 27 to 33 minutes behind schedule and will accomodate riders from train No. 402, according to a service alert on Metra’s website.

Train No. 406, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:27 a.m., was operating 15 to 20 minutes behind schedule. Trains were originally halted in both directions for about 45 minutes after the pedestrian was hit.
