Run for Smokes in a Stolen Car

Jonathon Robinson, 41, of the 5800 block of S. Washtenaw, Chicago, faces a felony charge of possession of a stolen vehicle and a citation for driving on a revoked license after police ran the plates on the car he was driving. Robinson was in a 2003 Ford Mustang parked by a gas station on the 7200 block of Harlem Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. April 24, police said, and told officers he had driven his two passengers to the gas station so they could buy cigarettes. The Mustang had been reported stolen from a closed garage on the 4900 block of Washtenaw, Chicago, on April 11, police said. Two passengers were released without charges.

Purse Stolen From Ball Game

Someone smashed the window of a car and stole a purse with contents valued at $500 between 2:30 and 3:20 p.m. April 23 in the lot of Hilda Walker School, 19900 S. 80th Ave., while the owner watched a baseball game, police said.

Someone stole a 5-foot diameter, 3,000-pound limestone landscaping boulder from a vacant property on the 17700 block of LaGrange Road between midnight April 1 and 2:20 April 21, police said. Because of the weight, a machine larger than a skid steer would have been needed, the owner told police.

Accused Drunken Driver: “I Messed Up”

Robert Kieras, 52, of the 7800 block of E. Ponderosa Court, Orland Park, was charged with drunken driving at about 11:10 p.m. April 21 after officers saw a pick-up truck he was driving nearly hit a car in the intersection of 159th Street and 80th Avenue after running a red light, police said. When officers approached the truck, Kieras said “I messed up,” which he repeated several times during his arrest, police said.

Identity Theft R Us

Someone made more than $800 in Toys R Us purchases in “Duluth” using a Tinley Park woman’s First Midwest Bank debit card information, police said. The woman had her card the entire time and had not shared her PIN, police said. It’s unknown if the purchases were made in the Duluth in Minnesota or the one in Georgia.

More Debit Fraud

Someone made more than $950 in purchases using a Tinley Park woman’s Harris Bank debit card information, police said. The woman had the card the entire time. The purchases were $581.66 at Office Depot, $300 at Macy’s, $13.44 at Captain Hooks and $58.68 at Debby Beauty Supply, all out of Chicago, police said.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20

“Smoke” Break

Sandra Hanley, 55, of the 14100 block of S. Wabash, Riverdale, was cited for marijuana possession after police received reports she was smoking marijuana at 12:40 p.m. April 20 in a car parked on the 7700 block of 159th Place, near 159th Street 7-11, where she works, police said. “The suspect advised me that she was taking a break from work to smoke her cannabis,” the report reads in part.

MONDAY, APRIL 18

And More Card Fraud

Someone bought a $670 iPad from Newegg.com using a Tinley Park woman’s Visa credit card information, police said.

SATURDAY, APRIL 16

And, Yes, More Debit Fraud

Someone used a Tinley Park woman’s Harris Bank debit card information to make more than $1,000 in purchases at a Plainfield Walmart, police said. The woman had the card the whole time.
