Police Blotter: Alleged Car Burglar; Flaming Mercury Sable

THURSDAY, JUNE 16

Man Reportedly Caught Deflating Tires

Timothy J. Harper, 31, of the 17200 block of 71st Court in , was arrested around 1:25 a.m. and charged with unlawful trespassing to a vehicle. Police said they saw Harper kneeling down and letting the air out of the rear driver's-side tire of a vehicle parked in the 6900 block of West 173rd Street. He was using a wide-toothed comb to "depress the valve in the tire stem," police said. The report indicated that Harper's speech was slurred and that "It was obvious that (he) had been drinking."

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15

Flaming Mercury Sable

Police were getting a handful of calls around 12:30 p.m. about a car on fire in the 16300 block of South Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park. They found the 2001 Mercury Sable, which was stopped in the roadway there, smoking. The car was towed after the extinguished a small fire that had started under the hood.

Alleged Car Burglar

Jacari A. Peters, 20, of the 10800 block of South Prospect Street in Chicago, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. in Tinley Park and charged with two counts of burglary. Police said they connected Peters with a few local vehicle break-ins, including one on the 17200 block of 71st Court, and two in the parking lot of Odyssey Fun World, 5400 W. 167th St. Peters was caught after one of the victims saw his license plate while he was fleeing the scene.

MONDAY, MAY 23

Aggravated Battery

Donovan L. Campbell, 40, of the 9800 block of Tyler Street in Crown Point, Ind., was arrested around 10:30 a.m. in the 7800 block of West 183rd Street in Tinley Park and charged with aggravated battery. Additional information was not available Saturday.
