TUESDAY, MAY 31

Truck Break-in on Sandalwood

A 31-year-old man, of the 17500 block of Sandalwood Drive in Tinley Park, reported that someone broke into his 2002 Chevrolet S10 by shattering its driver's side window and stole his wallet from inside the glove compartment. The wallet had $10 in cash, two credit cards and the man's driver's license, according to the report. Although the apartment building's security cameras were in the vicinity, they did not record activity around the man's truck. He said he believed someone broke in between 8:50 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Alleged Pot Scent and Tipped-Over Garbage Cans

Police said they went to Union Creek Community Park, 19900 S. 80th Ave., in Tinley Park, around midnight after getting a report about unruly juveniles. A woman said she had seen three people running in the baseball fields, "messing around" at the concession stands and heard the sound of garbage cans being tipped over. Police confronted a 19-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man who were in the area. The three said they were only cutting through the park and did not cause damage. A metal garbage can was lying on the ground and the bathroom in the concession area was left unlocked. The report said a strong odor of cannabis was detected in the women's restroom, and the vanity door under the sink appeared to have been smashed in. The three teens denied any entry to the bathroom or damage in the area. They were identified as Laurence M. Legrande, 19, Ryen M. Wilson, 18, and Daniel L. Valencia, 18. All were all cited for violating the village's "in the park after dark" ordinance.
