Alleged Drunken Driver Resists Arrest
Police said they arrested Daniel L. Janusek, 25, of Schererville, Ind., around midnight after he failed field sobriety tests following a collision near the intersection of Oak Park and Harlem avenues. While driving a Honda Fit, Janusek rear-ended a 58-year-old Richton Park man who was driving an Infinity QX4, according to the police report. Janusek failed field sobriety tests, police said, and refused to take a breath test at the police station. He also became verbally and physically combative with the cops when he was placed in a holding cell, later apologizing to them for swearing and making claims including, "I am above you," the report said. He was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting a peace offer. He was eventually released to his parents, police said.
