Police Blotter: Burglary to a For-Sale Home and Woman Calls for Help During Drive-by

Tinley Park police reports, Oct. 8 and Oct. 11.

Burglary to a For-Sale Home

A couple living in the 16900 block of 82nd Avenue in said that sometime between 11:45 p.m. Oct. 10 and 5 a.m. Oct. 11, someone stole a video projector and a PlayStation game console from the downstairs living room of their home. The home has been up for sale for about five months, the couple said, and has been shown to more than 40 potential buyers.

Vehicle Damage

An 18-year-old man who parked his 1989 Chevrolet Caprice in the 17900 block of Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park said that sometime between 3 p.m. Oct. 10 and 12:15 a.m. Oct. 11, someone dented the vehicle's passenger side.

Pool Table Stolen

A woman called to report that sometime between 3:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 4:20 p.m. Oct. 8, someone stole a pool table from her residence in the first block of Iliad Drive in Tinley Park. The table was valued at $2,500.

Woman Calls for Help During Drive-by

A crossing guard near the intersection of 179th Street and Durkin Road in Tinley Park called police to report that around 2 p.m., a mid-sized white, sport utility vehicle drove by him heading westbound on 179th. "(He) advised the passenger, who was a female wearing a head scarf, yelled out of the window of the vehicle, 'Help me,'" the report said. The crossing guard didn't see who was driving, or if there were any passengers.

SATURDAY, OCT. 8

Battery and Obstructing Identification

Dennis T. Johnson, 40, of the 7300 block of Tiffany Drive in Orland Park, was arrested on an active warrant out of Chicago Ridge for battery. He was also charged with battery and obstructing identification after police said that around 12:30 a.m., he socked someone in the face outside Cuzin's Tavern, 17704 Oak Park Ave. When the cops got to the bar, they found Johnson in the women's bathroom, according to the report. At the time, he gave them a fake name—his cousin's, police said.
