Police Blotter: Catalytic Converters Swiped; Possession of a Controlled Substance

Tinley Park police reports, Sept. 21, 23, 25-27

TUESDAY, SEPT. 27

Fuel Line Punctured

A local woman, who parked her car in the 15900 block of South Olcott Avenue in , called police to report that sometime between 6 p.m. Sept. 23 and 2 p.m. Sept. 26, someone punctured the fuel line on her car. She said she believed it may have been her ex-husband.

Disorderly Conduct

Alexander F. Rainone III, 44, of the 2100 block of Maplewood Lane in Joliet, was arrested around 4:15 p.m. at his home and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said Rainone was harassing a Tinley Park woman he knew by calling her 75 times and sending her unwanted text messages.

Metal Thief

The owner of a company in the 17500 block of Duvan Drive in Tinley Park said that between Sept. 20 and Sept. 27, someone stole several pieces of metal from his warehouse. He said he suspected the culprits to be employees who may be sneaking the products out after their evening shifts, according to the report.

MONDAY, SEPT. 26

Grand Theft Auto

A man living in the 17300 block of South Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park went outside shortly before 4:30 p.m. and found his 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass missing from his driveway. He said he believed the ride was stolen between 3:20 p.m. and 4:25 p.m., and that the culprit was his girlfriend's son. The spare set of car keys was missing from the home, he said. The license plate number is N482841, according to the report.

Catalytic Converters Swiped

A 50-year-old man called police after he realized that the catalytic converters were missing from two of Chevrolet trucks that were parked in the 8500 block of 185th Street in Tinley Park. He said he believed someone cut them out of the vehicles between 4 p.m. Sept. 26 and 4 a.m. Sept. 27.

Tampering With a Coin-Operated Laundry Machine

A woman who owns a building in the 17200 block of South 66th Court in Tinley Park said that sometime between 4 p.m. Sept. 25 and 7 p.m. Sept. 26, someone tried getting the change out of her coin-operated laundry machine. The machine is attached to the dryer, according to the report, and someone had pried the top off of it. They didn't get any of the change, but did Duct tape the machine back together after they disassembled it. Both machines still worked, the report said. The woman said she believed one of her tenants may have damaged the dryer in response to their personal property being damaged during a recent flood.

Annoying Phone Calls

A Tinley Park couple filed a complaint with police after they received several phone calls from an anonymous woman who would ask one question and then hang up the phone. They received several of the calls between Sept. 23 and Sept. 26, they said. Tinley Park police were able to track the phone number of the woman calling, according to the report, but they hadn't arrested her as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 25

Windshield Stomper

Police said a woman called them after finding out that her car's windshield had been broken while it was parked in the 7800 block of Glenfield Avenue in Tinley Park. They said they believed someone stepped on the hood of the 1998 Honda four-door and stomped on the windshield to break it. Impressions from shoes were left behind, according to the police report.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 23

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Kelsey R. Litteken, 20, of the 2200 block of Kaiser Road in New Athens, was arrested around 8 p.m. at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 S. Ridgeland Ave. in Tinley Park, and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 21

Identity Theft

Clifford Demeter, 30, of the 14700 block of 66th Court in Oak Forest, was arrested around 1:15 p.m. at his home on a warrant out of the for two counts of identity theft.
