Booze Shoplifting

Two out-of-towners were recently accused of stealing eight bottles of liquor from a local grocery store, where cops said they'd stolen from before.

Paris T. White, 25, of the 400 block of Paxton Avenue in Calumet City, and Tasharra M. Jester, 29, of the 7400 block of Chestnut in Hammond, IN, were arrested around 11:30 a.m. Aug. 7. The two were reportedly seen leaving Jewel-Osco, 17117 S. Harlem Ave., , with bags filled with 1800 Tequila, Grey Goose and Belvedere. They were also found with stolen Maxi pads and Crayola markers, police said.

A man was with the pair but he wasn't charged because he didn't technically take anything from the store and police weren't able to verify whether he was aware of the alleged shoplifting. A security employee spotted the women leaving with the booze and not paying, he said. He also said he believed they were the same women who stole alcohol the previous week.

The women told police they were in the store the week before but hadn't taken any booze, according to the report. They were each given trespass warnings and charged with one count of retail theft.
