March 27

Wrong Lane

Brian V. Mitchell, 47, of the 17500 block of Pheasant Drive in Tinley Park, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and driving in the wrong lane. Police said they stopped Mitchell’s car at 183rd Street and 80th Avenue around 8 p.m. for swerving into oncoming traffic lanes.

March 26

Spitting Game

Scott G. Brngal, 26, of the 5100 block of Carolyn Court in Oak Forest, was charged with battery. The reporting police officer said he was stopped at 159th Street and 80th Avenue around 9:45 p.m. when he saw Brngal get out of the passenger side of a Dodge Ram and spit on a Mercedes. The driver of the Mercedes told police he and Brngal has gotten into a shouting match minutes earlier when the Dodge Ram cut him off.

High Heeled

Aleshia T. Fields, 24, of the 15800 block of Loomis Avenue in Harvey, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and violating minimum speed. Police said they stopped Fields’ car at 183rd Street and 76th Avenue around 2:45 a.m. for swerving and driving 25 mph below the speeding limit. Fields willingly performed and failed field sobriety tests in her high heels, according to the report.

March 25

Baby Supplies

Chris A. Aguilar, 28, of the 11200 block of St. Louis Avenue in Chicago, was charged with retail theft. Security at a retail store in the 7300 block of 191st Street told police that Aguilar hid a video game accessory, baby lotion and baby oil under his jacket and left the store around 1 p.m.

Inside Aguilar’s car, police found 10 other items, mostly video games, without receipts, according to the report. Police said they inventoried the items as other possible retail thefts and would return them to Aguilar if he could produce receipts.

Forgery

Anthony L. Phillips, 39, of the 16700 block of Hillside Place in Tinley Park, was charged with forgery around 10 a.m. Police could not be immediately reached for more details.

March 23

Domestic Battery

Krystina A. Sonner, 43, of the 6500 block of Pine Trail No. 3 in Tinley Park, was charged with domestic battery and interfering with reporting a domestic battery. Police said Sonner shoved a woman inside her home around 10 p.m. When the woman picked up a phone to call 911 Sonner tossed it across the room, according to the report. The woman managed to leave and call police from a relative’s house, police said.

March 22

Credit and Then Theft

Nicole C. Harvey, 29, of the 23400 block of Western Avenue in Oak Forest, was charged with felony retail theft. Security at a department store 7500 block of 191st Street told police that Harvey entered their store around 1 p.m., picked up two pairs of pants from a shelf and fraudulently returned them for credit. She then used that credit to make several legitimate purchases, but before leaving the store stuffed $293 worth of clothing into her large purse, police said.

March 18

Fighting for the Honor of Mom's and Dad's Liquor

An 18-year-old Tinley Park man told police he was beat up during an apartment party near 173rd Street and Ridgeland Avenue. He told police a woman stole his bottle of grain alcohol around 1 a.m. and when he took it back she struck him in the face. Taking her lead, several of the woman’s friends then held the man down while they punched and kicked him, police said. Police reported two black eyes and other red marks on the man’s face.

The man told police he stole the bottle from his parents.

Reported Thefts, Damages
  • Sometime between 1:45 p.m. on March 23 and 12:15 a.m. on March 24 jewelry, coins and $900 cash were stolen from a bedroom in the 17300 block of Ozark Avenue, police said. Someone likely entered through the back door, which was forced open, police said.
  • On March 26, around 6 p.m., the owner of a vacant commercial property in the 6800 block of 171st Street told police that someone broke into his building and broke several windows and doors. He also told police someone stole three aluminum light poles in the parking lot and unbolted a fourth and turned off the building’s power, causing the basement to flood.
  • On March 25, the owner of an apartment complex in the 16700 block of Lakewood Drive told police she believes someone has been stealing rent checks from the property drop box. Seven renters told the owner they have paid their last one to two months rent and that none of the alleged missing checks and money orders has been cashed.
  • Sometime between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on March 26, a wallet containing $21 cash and several credit cards was stolen from the locker room of LA Fitness, police said. The cards were cancelled but not before someone used them for gasoline in Flossmoor and jewelry in Calumet City, according to the report.
