Police Blotter: Gang Graffiti; A Pricey Gumball Machine is Snatched

Tinley police reports, July 18, 21, 25-26.

TUESDAY, JULY 26

Warrant Arrest

Brian J. Studniarz, 39, of the 6300 block of Carlsbad Drive in Tinley Park, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. in the 17300 block of South Oak Park Avenue on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Will County for driving on a suspended license, police said. His bail was set at $10,000. Police stopped Studniarz when he was on a bicycle behind J.W. Hollstein's, according to the report.

MONDAY, JULY 25

Drum Equipment Swiped

A man said that sometime between 9 p.m. July 24 and 9:30 a.m. July 25, someone stole two bags filled with drum equipment from the bed of his 1999 Dodge pickup truck. A snare stand, a double bass pedal, a stool stand and the two bags were reported missing. The man estimated the loss to be around $500, according to the report.

Tires Slashed

A 20-year-old man, of the 8100 block of Brookside Glen Drive in Tinley Park, told police that between noon July 24 and 3 a.m. July 25, someone slashed the driver's side front and back tires of his Nissan 200SX. "The vehicle was parked in the driveway," the report said. "(The victim) advised that his vehicle has been damaged several times in the past."

Gang Graffiti

Police said they found what "looked like gang graffiti" in a driveway, on the garage and on a storage shed of a residence in the 6400 block of West Honey Lane Drive in Tinley Park. The residents didn't know when the place was spray painted because they said their dog never barked, but guessed it was between midnight July 22 and midnight July 25.

Warrant Arrest

David L. Edmunson Jr., 26, of the 6500 block of Ravinia Drive in Tinley Park, was arrested around 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of Riverside and Pinepoint Drives on a warrant out of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office for aggravated domestic battery. Police said they saw Edmunson walking in that area and had "prior knowledge of the warrant" and that it included a "statewide extradition" clause. His bail was set at $8,000.

THURSDAY, JULY 21

Business Spray Painted

Someone at Tinley Terrace Tot Lot, 6517 Terrace Drive in Tinley Park, called the cops to report that between 8 p.m. July 20 and 9 a.m. July 21, someone spray painted a fence on the property. The report did not detail what the paint job looked like.

MONDAY, JULY 18

Pricey Gumball Machine Snatched

Employees at Super Kmart, 16300 Harlem Ave., Tinley Park, called the cops to report that at 10:15 p.m., a man snagged a large $550 gum ball machine from the east lobby area. They gave video surveillance of the incident to police. "Once the man is in the parking lot, he places the machine into a full sized white work van," the report said. The machine was a "double rack," a manager told police, which had five separate gum ball machines and a second row of five machines that sold toys.
