Police Blotter: Man Mugged Near McAuliffe School; Nail Salon Burgled

Man Asked for Weed, Then Assaulted

An Orland Park man was attacked and robbed while walking through the field behind Christa McAuliffe Elementary School at 7:30 p.m. March 7, police said. According to police, the man said he was approached by four white males, about 16 to 17 years old, who asked him if he had any marijuana on him. When the man replied he didn’t, the four teens threw him to the ground and kicked him in the back several times before running off with $40 and the man's cell phone, police said. The man said he was walking across the field to meet a female friend but when asked by police, took them to the wrong house, police said.

Nail Salon Burgled

Someone smashed the front glass door of a nail salon and stole $300 and a 46-inch LG television from the  shop in the 16700 block of Oak Park Avenue, police said. The burglary took place between 6:30 p.m. March 6 and 7 a.m. March 7, police said.
