Paintballers Target Forestview Drive Home

A resident of a home on Forestview Drive in Tinley Park called the cops around 9:30 p.m. after his son said he heard strange noises by the garage. When the father went outside to investigate, he found a dent in his garage door "consistent with someone kicking it," and yellow paintballs on the house and its window frames. The man said similar incidents have been happening at his home on a weekly basis.

Airbags Snagged From Vehicles in Dealer Lot

Someone entered two unlocked vehicles owned by Tony Rizza Cadillac, 8425 W. 159th St., Tinley Park, between 9 a.m. Dec. 8 and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 9. They stole two airbags — each valued at $700 — from the cars, according to the report. The thieves targeted a 2012 Buick Enclave and a 2011 Cadillac Escalade that were parked in the east lot of the business.

Christmas Gifts Gone

A local woman called to report that sometime between midnight Dec. 8 and midnight Dec. 9, someone stole two DVDs and a black diamond pin that she'd bought as Christmas presents. She said she believed the culprit to be either her niece, nephew or nephew's girlfriend, who she showed the gifts to when she brought them home. Police said the trio told them that the victim constantly accuses them of stealing things from her. They don't steal from her, they said, but she misplaces her belongings.

Shotguns and Rifles Disappear

A man called around 12:15 p.m. to report that sometime between March 1, 2006, and June 1, 2011, two shotguns and two rifles have been taken from his home on Odyssey Drive. The victim's mother and father-in-law have lived with him since 2005 and then when he moved to Florida in 2006, the pair remained at his Tinley Park home.

Prior to his move, the firearms were in a bookcase in the home's loft, the report said. In June, he checked the case and noticed that four out of the five were missing. He waited to report the incident because the specific information about the guns was at his Florida home. He said he believed his late brother-in-law who "was a liar and a thief" took the guns and sold them, the report said. The weapons were a 12-gauge Browning shotgun, a 16-gauge J. Stevens Arms shotgun, .22-caliber Winchester rifle and .32-caliber Marlin rifle.

An employee at Sam's Club, 16100 S. Harlem Ave., Tinley Park, said that sometime between 1 p.m and 4:45 p.m., someone stole $210 from her wallet. The wallet was inside the pocket of her coat, which was hanging on a coat rack in the employee break room, the woman said.

Someone Takes a Handicapped Placard

A woman called police after she said she realized that someone took the handicapped placard from her rearview mirror while her car was parked at Walt's 16039 Harlem Ave., Tinley Park between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. When police called the Secretary of State's Office, they were told that no handicapped placard had been issued to the woman, who was 89 years old. Officers told them to call her if she finds the number for her placard.

MONDAY, DEC. 5

Credit Card Fraudulently Used to Buy Doors

A local hardware company contacted Tinley Park police after employees learned that a $2,565 purchase was made at the business using a credit card that didn't belong to the buyer. The company sold three doors, three door frames and all the hardware to a man who gave them a credit card number that was checked for validity. Though the card was valid, it did not belong to the man placing the order, police said. The charges were reversed, the report said.
