Police Blotter: Pellet Gun Damage; Suspicious Fence Climber

Tinley Park police reports, May 29-30

MONDAY, MAY 30

Peculiar Intruder

A 15-year-old boy, who was mowing a neighbor's lawn in the 16300 block of Cherry Hill Avenue in Tinley Park, reported that he took a break for a few minutes around 1:10 p.m. to stop at his own home across the street. When he returned, he saw a man scaling the fence from inside the back yard, according to the report. The man, described as a black 19-year-old, got into a green, four-door, older-model car, which was then seen heading north on Apple Lane, police said. A responding officer checked the residence and garage and said there were no signs of forced entry. The homeowner did not report anything missing. The car wasn't located.

Shattered Glass

A 21-year-old woman, of the 7600 block of West 160th Street in Tinley Park, said she believed that between 12:20 a.m. and 1:35 a.m., someone threw a large, decorative landscaping rock through the back window of her 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. "The rock then continued through the vehicle and hit the front windshield, breaking it, before coming to rest on the passenger side floorboard," the report stated. No other vehicles in the area were damaged, police said.
