Police Blotter: Possession of Pills; Running a Red Light With Pot in the Car

SUNDAY, NOV. 13

Graffiti Complaint

A woman called around 11:40 p.m., when she said people were spray-painting graffiti on the bridge in the 8300 block of Brookside Glen Drive in . Police said that the graffiti was dry when they arrived and that it appeared to have been painted much earlier. They didn't find anyone in the area who they thought may be responsible, the report said.

SATURDAY, NOV. 12

Possession of a Pills

Jason R. Valandingham, 19, of the 16800 block of South 92nd Avenue in Orland Hills, was arrested around 11:24 p.m. in the 7700 block of West 163rd Street in Tinley Park and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Police said they found Valandingham standing on a sidewalk in the area with a group of teens that included several juveniles. Several people in the group were smoking marijuana in a nearby car, according to the report, and Valandingham was found with five Xanax pills. A couple of the male juveniles were so intoxicated they were unable to stand. They were taken to the and checked out by paramedics. They were released to their parents.

Running a Red Light With Pot in the Car

Police pulled over a 19-year-old Bridgeview man around 7:10 p.m. after he reportedly ran a red light at the intersection of 175th Street and Harlem Avenue. When they approached the driver's side window of the car being driven by Taylor A. Ziyad, they noticed that his eyes were red and glassy and smelled burnt marijuana, the report said. "I questioned Ziyad if he was in possession of cannabis," the officer wrote in the report. "Ziyad stated he does smoke cannabis but had smoked earlier today and that's why the suspect vehicle smelled." They searched the vehicle to find marijuana in the center console and joints and blunts in the ashtray, according to the report. Ziyad was charged with driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $2,000.

THURSDAY, NOV. 10

Shoplifters Target Ulta

An employee at Ulta, 7350 191st St., Tinley Park, said that around 12:10 p.m., a woman filled a basket with cosmetics and then emptied the items into her purse. She stole the merchandise after getting services done in the salon, according to the report, and was with a friend. As the two left the store, the security alarm sounded. They fled in a four-door Chevrolet Malibu.
