$300 of Cigarettes Stolen

Someone stole six cartons of cigarettes from an unlocked car parked in front of a home on the 18000 block of Goesel Drive, Tinley Park, between 6:15 and 9:30 p.m. May 8, police said. The total value of the cigarettes was $300, police said.

Mailbox Baseball?

Someone broke off the top of a curbside mailbox at a home on the 8800 block of Glenshire Street, Tinley Park, at 11:40 p.m. May 7, police said. A neighbor saw a sports car race away after the neighbor and the residents both heard a loud bang, police said.

Tires Punctured

Someone punctured all four tires on a car parked in the lot of a condominium building on the 7500 block of 175th Street, Tinley Park, between 7 and 11:30 p.m. May 6, police said.

Windows Smashed

Someone smashed the window of a car parked in the lot of Ashford House between 6:20 and 9:20 p.m. May 6 while the owner was inside the restaurant, police said. The owner’s purse was stolen, police said.

THURSDAY, MAY 5

Shoplifter Tries Same Store Again

Rachel Bailey, 23, of the 17200 block of Parkside, Tinley Park, was charged with shoplifting and criminal trespass at 6:35 p.m. May 5 in an incident at Kohl’s. She tried to take $104.52 worth of clothing and jewelry on May 5, police said. S, police said. A loss prevention officer recognized Bailey from her previous arrest, which also led to her being banned from the store, police said.

Accused Drunken Driver Hits Car in Bar Lot, Pulls Into Bar Across Street

Shawn Harris, 37, of the 6800 block of 179th Street, Tinley Park, was charged with drunken driving, failure to report striking an unoccupied vehicle, improper backing and driving without insurance after allegedly hitting a parked car in the parking lot of Cuzin’s, 17704 Oak Park Ave., after staff told him to leave at about 1:30 a.m. May 5, police said. Harris then drove off, pulling into the parking lot of Bailey’s, 17731 Oak Park Ave., where police later found him in the car, police said. A breath test issued at 2:41 – more than an hour after the crash – Harris’ blood-alcohol level was 0.17, more than double the legal limit, police said.

From Russia, With Fraud

Someone used a Tinley Park man’s credit card to make several fraudulent online purchases, police said. The charges were two purchases of $39.90 each from separate Moscow-based movie sites and a $433.33 camera from a third site, police said.

Laser Stolen

Someone stole a $600 Hilti laser from the construction area of the Tinley Park Convention Center some time between 8 a.m. April 25 and 10 a.m. May 5, police said.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20

Drunken Driving Charges Issued

Robert Gowens, 39, of the 16000 block of Louis Avenue, South Holland, Ill., was charged with drunken driving after police officers witnessed him cut across four lanes of westbound 183rd Street to turn south on Harlem Avenue at about 8 p.m. April 20, police said. On Harlem Avenue, officers clocked him at 63 in a 45 zone, police said.
