Police Blotter: Skipping Out on a Taxi Fare; Theft in McDonald's PlayPlace

Warrant Arrest

Tylisa A. Thomas, 23, of Hammond, Ind., was arrested around 3:15 p.m. in Chicago by the Cook County Sheriff's Office on a warrant for driving with a suspended license out of the .

Purse Snatchers at Chuck E. Cheese

A 35-year-old New Lenox woman was at Chuck E. Cheese, 16090 S. Harlem Ave., in Tinley Park, around 2 p.m. when she realized her royal blue Coach purse was missing. A manager at the restaurant reviewed surveillance footage and said it showed a woman snagging the bag and waiting by the door for a man who drove a "getaway car" the two left in. Inside the purse was a black Droid cell phone valued at about $100, an iPod valued at about $150, as well as the woman's car and house keys.

Skipping Out on a Taxi Fare

Nikki S. Duplechin, 34, of the 17600 block of 65th Ave. in Tinley Park, was arrested around 2:40 a.m. at her home after a cab driver who had driven her to Tinley from Chicago said she didn't pay him. Duplechin owed $82.35 for the lift, according to the report. When she began digging through her purse to get the cash she'd promised him, she told him that someone had taken all her money. Her bail was set at $1,000.

Conditional Release Violation

Kevin P. Faulkner, 28, of the 16600 block of Meadow Court in Tinley Park, was arrested around 7:30 p.m., at his home and charged with violating a condition of his release. He was previously arrested on a warrant out of Cook County for criminal trespassing, according to the report.

Credit Card Fraud

A 54-year-old woman called the cops after being notified that someone tried using her credit card to make four separate purchases — three in Tinley Park and one in North Carolina. The woman said that she had last used her card Aug. 14 at the Speedway gas station near 183rd Street and Harlem Avenue. Between 10:45 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. Aug. 20, someone tried using the card at Super Target, 7300 W. 191st St.., to make one purchase for $983.99, one purchase for $300, and one for $106. All three of those charges were denied because they exceeded the woman's remaining credit limit, according to the report. Someone also tried to make a $5 purchase at a Bed Bath & Beyond store in North Carolina, but the card had been canceled by that time. Police are investigating the fraud using surveillance footage from the gas station at Target.

Reckless Driving

Gregory A. Olejarz, 19, of the 17000 block of Oketo Avenue in Tinley Park, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. at the , 7850 183rd St., and charged with reckless driving and squealing/screeching his tires. His bail was set at $1,500 and he posted the required 10 percent of that value and was released.

SATURDAY, AUG. 20

Theft in McDonald's PlayPlace

A 40-year-old mother called police around 2 p.m. from McDonald's, 15920 Harlem Ave., Tinley Park, after she said someone stole her son's Nintendo DS while he was in the PlayPlace. The boy left his game on the shelf where children leave their shoes, police said. The woman spoke to a manager at McDonald's, who told her there is video surveillance in the PlayPlace available for the police department. She wants the Nintendo DS returned. It was worth about $150 and the game inside was worth about $35, according to the report.

Battery at the Amphitheatre

Brennan C. McDonald, 23, of the 10300 block of Interclochen Drive in Palos Hills, was arrested around 9 p.m at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 Ridgeland Ave., Tinley Park, and charged with battery. Police said McDonald threw a cup of beer at someone in the concession stand area. While he was being escorted to the security office, he reportedly punched a security guard in the side of the head. His bail was set at $1,500.

Scott C. Coppens, 22, of the 17200 block of Lakebrook Drive in Orland Park, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. at the , 7850 W. 183rd St., and charged with battery. His bail was set at $1,000.
