Police Blotter: Stolen Car; Flaming Southern Comfort

Tinley Park police reports, June 2-5.

SUNDAY, JUNE 5

Purses Snatched

Two 19-year-old women reported that their purses were taken from their apartment in the 17300 block of South Oak Park Avenue. The women had invited a group of people they'd met earlier in the night to their place to hang out, police said. They said they believed the bags were stolen between 1:50 a.m. and 2:05 a.m.

A Swiped Phone

A 33-year-old woman, of the 9200 block of Hunter Drive in Orland Hills, reported that someone stole her cell phone after she left it on the counter at Burlington Coat Factory, 7061 W. 159th St. She said she believed the theft occurred around 6:45 p.m.

Warrant Arrest

Police said Tawnita C. Pearson, 34, of the 10000 block of South Oglesby Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 8:45 a.m. in the 8100 block of 183rd Street in Tinley Park, on a warrant. She was also charged with driving a vehicle that didn't have a front license plate, driving a vehicle with an expired registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

Stolen Car

A 26-year-old man, of the 7600 block of West 159th Place, reported that his black, 2007 four-door Honda Accord was missing from the parking lot where he lives. He said he believed the car was stolen between 8 a.m. June 3 and 7 p.m. June 5. The car was parked on the west side of the lot when the incident occurred. The company in charge of tows for the condominium parking lot was contacted, and representatives said they did not take the vehicle, police said. The car was locked and the only set of keys was in the victim's possession.

Jewelry Theft

A 20-year-old woman, of the 16700 block of Anne Marie Avenue, reported that someone stole a gold, diamond heart pendent from her bedroom. The pendent was a gift given to the woman 16 years ago and its estimated value is between $2,000 and $3,000, according to the report. Police said there was no forced entry into the home.

A Taken Bike

A 21-year-old man, of the 17300 block of South Overhill Avenue, reported that his bike was stolen from Jewel-Osco, 17117 Harlem Ave., between 9:50 and 10 p.m. The bicycle was a red, 20-inch boys mountain bike made by Huffy.

Burglary to Vehicle

A 51-year-old man, of the 16900 block of South Barbara Lane, reported that someone had entered his 2000 Dodge Dakota between 5 p.m. June 3 and 10:30 a.m. June 5. The truck was unlocked and parked in the man's driveway, he said. His all-in-one stereo, GPS and DVD player was missing from the vehicle. The total loss was estimated to be around $350.

SATURDAY, JUNE 4

Slashed Tires and Seats

Three people, whose vehicles were parked in an apartment complex parking lot at 16851 S. Harlem Ave., reported having their tires slashed. They said they believed someone flattened the tires between 8 p.m. June 3 and 7:45 a.m. June 4. Another person parked in the lot reported that between 5 p.m. June 3 and 4 p.m. June 4, someone slashed the fabric on the front passenger seat of her vehicle and scattered her belongings on the floor.

Warrant Arrest

Police said Donald M. Schuldt, 24, of the 8000 block of West 174th Street, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Will County for driving under the influence. His bail was set at $8,000.

Louis Vuitton Bag Snagged From Water Park

A 30-year-old woman, of the 2600 block of West Walter Zimny Drive in Posen, reported that between 3:50 p.m. and 4:10 p.m., someone stole her Louis Vuitton duffel bag, Boost Gallaxy cell phone, Guess wallet, driver's license, Social Security card, debit card, $180 cash and key to her Enterprise rental car. The items had been placed under a lounge chair at White Water Canyon water park, 8105 171st St., while the woman and her two children were poolside.

FRIDAY, JUNE 3

Stolen Wallet

A 58-year-old woman, of the 7800 block of Woodstock Drive, reported that someone stole her wallet from her purse while she was working at ITW Filtration Products, 18531 Spring Creek Dr. She said she believed the wallet was taken around 11:30 p.m.

THURSDAY, JUNE 2

Alleged Pot Possession

John P. Lisicich, 22, of the 7200 block of West 174th Street, was arrested around 11 p.m. in the 16300 block of Harlem Avenue, police said. He was charged with possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Flaming Southern Comfort

Police reported to Anchor Abrasives, 7651 185th St., after receiving a report that burnt, shattered glass had been found in the parking lot. A surveillance video showed that around 9:40 p.m., someone driving a silver two-door car was in the lot. A man got out of the car and placed an item on the pavement, which soon became engulfed in flames. The driver then sped off. Police found that the flaming object was a bottle of Southern Comfort. No one was hurt and nothing was damaged in the fire.

Vehicle Break-in

A 47-year-old woman, of the 19500 block of Gelnbrook Lane, reported that between 8:40 a.m. and 11:45 a.m., someone broke into her unlocked 2008 Chrysler Town & Country van while she was parked in the 6700 block of 175th Street. Her wallet, which had $47 in cash in it, and a Mastercard were stolen from inside her purse.
