Police Blotter: Teens Accused of Underage Boozing; Smeared Bananas and Paint on an SUV

MONDAY, OCT. 24

Fake Check Used for Car Down Payment

Employees at Carmax, 1880 Oak Park Ave., , reported that a $1,500 check used as payment on Sept. 14 was fake. The check was provided as a down payment for a vehicle purchased there. Tinley Park police have been helping investigate.

Smeared Bananas and Paint on an SUV

The owners of a 2007 Chevrolet Blazer called the cops around 4:15 p.m., when they found their SUV vandalized with smashed bananas, granulated lemonade and paint. The vehicle was parked in a driveway in the 8700 block of Glenshire Street in Tinley Park, the report said. Someone damaged it between Oct. 21 and Oct. 23, the owner told police.

Driver of Astro Van Dumps Tires

A resident in the 7000 block of 170th Street in Tinley Park called police around 4:50 p.m., after he watched a man get out of an Astro Van and dump tires into a creek for the second time since Friday. The stream runs behind the resident's apartment building, according to the report. The witness said he asked the suspect what he was doing and he simply got back into the van and drove to the front of the apartment building, where he picked up his girlfriend who lives there. Police notified Tinley Park Public Works of the tire dumping and the case remained under investigation Monday.

License Plate Stolen

Police said that sometime between Oct. 21 and Oct. 23, someone stole the license plate from a car that was parked in the 8400 block of 165th Place in Tinley Park. The plate was taken from a 2006 Ford sedan, the report said.

Warrant Arrest

Damian E. Donaldson, 24, of the 100 block of Washington Street in Park Forest, was arrested around 1 a.m. in Markham on one warrant out of the Cook County Sheriff's Office and a separate failure-to-appear warrant out of the .

SATURDAY, OCT. 22

Credit Card Fraud

An Indiana woman came to the around 2:40 p.m. to report that someone had fraudulently used her debit card in Tinley Park and Orland Park on Aug. 4 and Aug. 5. The unauthorized activity included a $1,000 cash advance, according to the report. The case remained under investigation Tuesday.

FRIDAY, OCT. 21

Burglary Alarm

A burglary alarm sounded around 4:40 a.m. at the Century Corner Store, 9410 W. 179th St., Tinley Park. When the cops showed up, they could hear the alarm going off, the report said, and found a piece of concrete outside the business' glass door. The door looked like it had been hit in two different spots with the concrete, but the glass was only chipped. No one entered the store, the owner said. Police said the owner doesn't believe it was a break-in attempt.

Realty Brochure Holder Stolen

A resident in the 8500 block of West Scheer Drive in Tinley Park said that sometime between 8 p.m. Oct. 20 and 5 a.m. Oct. 21, someone stole a brochure holder from his front yard. The blue, plastic compartment was next to a Remax Realty sign and was worth about $25, the report said.

Teens Accused of Underage Boozing

A witness called the cops around 10 p.m. when a girl who appeared to be under the age of 21 was seen buying alcohol at Tinley Wine and Spirits, according to the report. The caller gave police the license plate number of the vehicle the girl got into and officers pulled pulled over the car near the intersection 159th Street and Harlem Avenue.

Inside was Brian M. Wahl, 18, of the 17000 block of Danielle Court in Oak Forest; Mallory J. Eveling, 19, of the 17400 block of Brook Hill Drive in Orland Park; Alanna L. Glomb, 19, of the 9800 block of West 145th Street in Orland Park; Natalie J. Morris, 19, of the 14500 block of Woodland Avenue in Orland Park; and a juvenile who was not named in the report.

Police said Wahl was driving the car and immediately turned over two cases of Bud Light Beer to police, the report said. "Alanna advised that she purchased the alcohol and provided me an Illinois Driver's license (not issued to her)," the report said.

Police charged Morris, Wahl, Eveling and the juvenile with one count each of possession of alcohol by a minor. Glomb was charged with underage possession of alcohol by a minor and misrepresentation of age by a minor.

SUNDAY, OCT. 16

Kids Destroy Mailbox

A woman living in the 16600 block of South Paxton Avenue in Tinley Park awoke around 3:15 a.m. to loud music coming from her driveway. When she looked outside, she said she saw a silver Volkswagen parked in front of her house. "She saw the driver exit the car and remove a blue Bud Light … box from the trunk of the car and throw it on the street between her house and a (neighbor's)," the report said. "She then saw the passenger exit the car and kick the post portion of the (neighbor's) mailbox … causing the post and box to fall to the ground." The mailbox was left cracked before the two left the scene. Police eventually contacted the neighbor, who said she's willing to sign complaints if an arrest is made.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 12

Gift Cards Snagged From Backpack

A 16-year-old girl reported that sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., someone went into her purse, which was inside her backpack, and stole two Target gift cards valued at $42 and one Marcus Theaters gift card valued at $25. The backpack was inside an unlocked locker in the band storage area at Tinley Park High School, 9001 171st St., Tinley Park.

MONDAY, OCT. 10

Burglary Warrant

Kyle D. Vigil, 18, of the 17300 block of Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park, was arrested around 8:20 p.m. at the , 7850 183rd St., on a warrant for burglary.
