Police Blotter: A Warrant for Contempt and an Impostor Tries Withdrawing Thousands From Account

TUESDAY, NOV. 1

Warrant for Contempt

Police arrested Matthew L. Hall, 39, of the 8700 block of West 169th Street in Orland Park, around 8:45 p.m. in the 8300 block of 171st Street in , on a warrant out of DuPage County for contempt of court. He was also charged with improper lighting and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

A Broken Window

A woman living in the 9100 block of West Mansfield Drive in Tinley Park called police to report that sometime between midnight Oct. 31 and 2 p.m. Nov. 1, someone broke a window of her home. The shattered glass was on the east side of the residence, which faces 183rd Street. said they weren't sure what broke the window because there was no evidence left behind.

Impostor Tries Withdrawing Thousands From Account

A teller working at PNC Bank, 7151 W. 159th St., Tinley Park, said that around 1:30 p.m., a man entered the business with a withdrawal slip in hand. He tried to take $2,437 from an account and handed the teller an Indiana driver's license as identification. The teller told police she didn't think the license was real. She left the customer standing in front of her booth and called the account owner, who lived in Indiana. The victim said he was not in Tinley Park. When the teller returned to the booth, the offender was gone, according to the report. He left the fake driver's license behind. The account owner said he's willing to sign complaints if an offender is located.

Identity Theft Warrant

Michael A. Ores, 22, of the 16700 block of Hilltop Avenue in Orland Hills, was arrested around 12 p.m. at the Palos Heights Police Department on a warrant for identity theft out of the .

Credit Card Fraud

A local couple called police after they realized they'd been victims of identity theft. Sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 16, someone opened an account through PayPal using the duo's bank account, according to the police report. Using the account, an offender spent $1,158.14 at the Apple Store in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. A JC Penny credit card account was also opened. A total of $900 had been spent on the card in October, police said.
