Police Charge Plainfield Woman 'Lost in Tinley' With DUI

Tinley Park police arrested an out-of-towner last weekend. She said she was trying to get home and told them she'd had "one Polish beer" to drink.

arrested a Plainfield woman early Sunday who they said was "swerving all over the road" near the Oak Park Avenue Metra station.

When an officer approached the car around 1:30 a.m., driver Katharine A. Mrugala, 30, told them she was lost and trying to get to the 2500 block of Oak Tree Lane in Plainfield, where she lived.

"Her boyfriend, the passenger … was supposed to give her directions, but he was extremely intoxicated and no help," the report said.

Police told Mrugala that just because she's lost doesn't mean she could drive in the other lane of traffic, according to the report. The officer got a whiff of alcohol while talking to Mrugala and said her eyes were bloodshot and glassy.

She told police she'd had "one Polish beer" during the night.

She reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. Around 2:30 a.m., she blew a .175 on the Breathalyzer. She was charged with improper lane use, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08. Her bail was set at $1,000.
