Police Looking for Man Who Called to Teen

It's unclear why the man was calling the child over to his car Sunday evening.

Tinley Park police are looking into reports of a man in a car who approached a child Sunday evening. The man reportedly called the boy over to his car near 163rd Street and 84th Court around 6:30 p.m.

A 14-year-old child reported to police that a bearded white male in his mid-20s with a dark complexion and driving a teal-colored four-door vehicle stopped his car and called to the child, who then fled. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

The man did not make a physical attempt to grab the child, said Tinley Park Police Chief Steve Neubauer. Officers are treating the incident as a "suspicious circumstance."

It is not being treated as a crime at this time, Neubauer said.
