Police Nab Two After Alleged Oak Park Avenue Drug Transaction

Tinley Park police were patrolling in the area of Oak Park Avenue and 173rd Place this week when they said they watched a drug deal go down.

said they arrested two men Wednesday night following an alleged drug transaction that began at Teehan's Pub on Oak Park Avenue.

Jeffrey J. Nilsson, 29, of the 7700 block of West 170th Place in , was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana. John C. Harris, 26, of the 16800 block of Gaynelle Road, also in Tinley, was arrested and charged with unlawful delivery of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing traffic.

Police found the two while they were patrolling the 6700 block of North Street—referred to in the report as a "known narcotics area"—in an unmarked squad car. They said they saw Harris pull up to Teehan's and watched Nilsson get in the car.

The police followed the two to 173rd Place, where the car stopped for a few moments before Nilsson got out and began walking southbound on Oak Park Avenue.

Asked if he had drugs, Nilsson told police, "Yes, some weed I just bought," according to the report. During a search of Harris' car, police found a glass pipe.

The two were arrested. Their bail was set at $1,500 each.
