Police Search for Citibank Armed Robber
Local police are investigating a Tuesday morning incident in downtown Tinley Park in which a driver at an ATM was approached by a man who had a handgun.
Police are looking for an armed robber who approached a driver at an ATM in downtown early Tuesday morning.
The suspect robbed the driver at gunpoint with a "silver handgun" at Citibank 17401 S. Oak Park Ave., around 6:30 a.m., according to a news release from the . He got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, as the victim was making a deposit when he was approached.

Some residents living in the immediate area received phone calls from the alerting them to the incident, readers said. The entire village wasn't notified, however, said Tinley Park Police Cmdr. Pat McCain.
"Not everyone got calls," he said. "Just those who may have seen investigators, canines walking around that area."

McCain described the assailant as a black man wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and black jeans. He said surveillance footage of the incident is likely available, though he hadn't reviewed it himself as of 1 p.m. He noted that sketch artists are working on compiling an illustration of the suspect, who ran southbound from the ATM and around the building.
"That's the last we saw of him," McCain said. "We presume he fled by getting into a car."
