Police Searching for Armed Robbers After Sprint Store Incident

Tinley Park police are looking for three men responsible for a robbery where customers and staff were held up at gunpoint in mid-May, the details of which were recently released.

The Tinley Park Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened in May, where three men are accused of corralling customers and staff in the bathroom of a Sprint store at gunpoint before robbing the business.

The robbery happened on May 13 at the Sprint Store at 9512 W. 179th Street around 7:35 p.m., according to the Chicago Tribune. Details of the incident were only recently released. 

Two men walked into the store, one of which with a gun in hand, and ordered three customers and two employees to face the wall, and to toss their cell phones to the ground, according to the Tribune. Shortly after, a fourth customer entered the store and also was ordered to face the wall and toss his phone, according to the report.

The men then placed the employees and customers into the bathroom and left the store with cell phones and cash. Police believe a getaway driver in a silver Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country drove the robbers away.

  • wearing dark clothing and black Wolverine boots
