An 18-year-old man with autism is still missing after Tinley Park Police who was last seen Friday, Dec. 21, in the 7700 block of Marquette Drive, according to a Village of Tinley Park news alert.

The teen's name is Spiro Chionis, and he is 6 feet, with black hair. He is wearing a black jacket, red sweater and black pants, the alert stated. He is non-verbal but is not violent, the release continued.

He was last seen in the area of 177th Street and Harlem Avenue, a friend of the family told Patch. The search is now moving to the Oak Park Avenue area, the friend added.

Residents are encouraged to help with the search to find Spiro. There is no central location for volunteers to meet, but they can head to the areas he has been seen, the family friend said.

God this and God that, no it wasn't God who found the kid, it was the valiant efforts of all the people involved. And "praying" is no substitute for actually going out and looking for him. Hypocrites.

Great news thank God

@WarriorMom, @Jacki: Thank you for your tips. And everyone who went out overnight to help look for Spiro in the cold, you are to be commended. After this week, it's nice to have a story with a happy ending. I'm going to bed. Joe Vince Local Editor, Tinley Park

I couldn't sleep till he was found! Thank God! Huge praises to all those who went out looking - true heroes! I was at home with my sick babies, otherwise I would have been right with you. Great communication and team work!

Great job to all involved, those who went out and those who prayed!

Listen John, My husband was also one of the TP Warriors out looking for this boy. And we are guided by the faith of God. Our God's not Dead, he is surely alive. And he helped find Spiro. Hey John, were you out there in the cold weather looking for him? Just wondering. Merry Christmas!

Hey mcenroe! You will not kill all the good spirits here. You're right up there with Ebenezer scrooge and to all a good night. There are not always happy endings and yes thank God plus all the good souls who helped. Merry Christmas everyone!

John; My daughter amd I did both. Maybe there were a lot of people who wanted to look for him but couldn't. I broke my hip and pelvis 3 weeks ago and if it weren't for my daughter who drove us, I couldn't go look. I believe in the power of prayer. My own recovery has been on speed dial. I work with a lot of believers and can actually feel other forces helping me. Have a nice holiday John and yes, I also believe in helping by acting.

I work at the school he attends. The fact that so many people were out looking for him brings me to tears. Thank you all for caring.
TP Resident December 22, 2012 at 06:32 PM
@Joe any word on how he got to Posen? I mean that would be one heck of a hike. It was great to see so many people up and caring last night! That's what this town is about! Not all these crimes that have been taking place. Great job TP. I believe the word of the day is NAP! Lol!
Eileen hynes December 23, 2012 at 01:34 AM
So happy they found. Him and it was a happy outcome
Megan Howard December 23, 2012 at 06:23 PM
I totally agree John....prayer is all good and well, but if you have 100 people praying, instead of actually standing up and taking action. That's 100 less people to have out there actually looking for this boy. Yes, everyone has their own circumstances as to why they may not be able to participate...but give credit where credit is due! to the people who went out and bared the cold elements to help a complete stranger! Prayer won't pick up the phone and call the police when it finds what everyone is out looking for!

Mr. McEnroe, I pray that you open yourself to the power of prayer. Wherever 2 or more are gathered you will see powerful results just like this. It is especially heartening this week, that so many did go out in the cold dark night to search for Spiro. How might you explain that in the end, not one of these individuals found him? Yet, with all the horrible things that could have befallen him, Spiro was found: far from home, safe, and sound. Coincidence? You are entitled to your opinion, but I think not. Merry Christmas!
