South Suburban DUI Arrests, April 29

April 21: Nikola Ostojic, 38, of the 12900 block of Forestview Road, was charged with driving under the influence. He was stopped at 4:53 a.m. and failed a field sobriety test, police said. A breath test revealed a blood alcohol level of .143, police said.

April 21: Trevor King, 33, of the 5000 block of 171st Street in Tinley Park, was charged with drunken driving. He was stopped at 1:50 a.m. for doing 55 miles per hour in a 35 zone, police said. He was also wanted on an outstanding $10,000 warrant in Cook County for failure to appear in court, police said.  

April 8: Police pulled over an SUV after seeing it speed and cross over lane lines on 159th Street near Will Cook Road around 4:05 a.m. The driver’s breath smelled like alcohol and she failed field sobriety tests, police said. Lauren E. Klotz, 24, of the 17200 block of Long Bow Drive in Lockport, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, speeding and driving an uninsured vehicle.

April 6: Police pulled over a car after seeing it almost go off the road, crossing over lane lines and jutting back into traffic from a parked position without signaling, near 104th Avenue near Liberty Drive around 10 p.m. The driver couldn’t immediately find his license, his speech was slurred heavily and he later failed field sobriety tests, police said. Vytautas Katalynas, 46, of the 13800 block of Meath Drive in Homer Glen, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, failure to signal and failure to notify about an address change.

April 22: Kathleen Hurley, 47, of the 700 block of Lake Road in New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Police said she hit another car when it backed out of a parking lot at Cherry Hill Road and East Washington Street. The other driver, William Yearton, 48, of Joliet, was cited for an improper U-turn and the failure to yield. Hurley was taken to Silver Cross Hospital with a gash on her head. 

April 15: When police pulled over a suspected drunken driver earlier this month who they said was cruising through downtown Tinley Park, driving over lane lines and nearly hitting light poles, they were told he'd only been drinking water during the night. Officers stopped Jason E. Zednick, 42, of the 6500 block of West 173rd Street in Tinley Park, around 1 a.m. near the intersection of Oak Park Avenue and 176th Street. They said they saw him drive as much as 2 feet over the street's center median, jerk his car back into the lane and in doing so, barely missing a light pole in the 17600 block of Oak Park Avenue. Police said he failed field sobriety tests and was arrested. He was charged with improper lane use and driving under the influence.

April 9: When police asked a driver where he was coming from and where he was going, he answered "Chicago" to both, they said. John E. Tryba, 43, of the 4300 block of North Clarendon Avenue in Chicago, made no effort to stop after police turned on their sirens, according to the report, nor did he pull over when they began sounding an air horn. It wasn't until a squad car pulled in front of Tryba past the intersection of Pheasant Lake Drive and 183rd Street that police got him to pull over, officers said. "I asked the driver why he hadn't pulled over when I activated my emergency lights," an officer wrote in the report. "The driver replied, 'I didn't see any lights. What lights?'" He then failed field sobriety tests, police said. He refused to take a Breathalyzer test. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use. 



April 18: Tina B. Haddad, 31, of the 22300 block of North Pine Ridge Court, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance and failure to slow down to avoid an accident after an incident in the 19900 block of South Harlem Avenue. Haddard hit a guard rail in a parking lot and ran over a small tree, the sheriff's report stated. Her vehicle then became stuck in the grass, the report continued.

Police said a woman charged with driving under the influence on April 11 did not know the name of her motel and lost her balance while performing field sobriety tests. A police officer noticed a Jeep SUV driving with its headlights off while being followed by another car down the 9300 block of Cicero Avenue at 9:52 p.m. The SUV made a U-turn toward the officer as the other car parked behind it.

: Police said a driver tried evading them—first in his car and later, on foot—earlier this month when they were pulling him over for speeding. They later discovered he was a repeat DUI offender whose license had been revoked and that he had a heroin stash in his vehicle's center console, according to the report. His passenger was also up to no good, police said.
