South Suburban DUI Arrests, Dec. 15

Dec. 8: Michael Waldron, 24, of 1200 Prairie Estate Drive in New Lenox was stopped shortly before 7:30 p.m. near the corner of Colorado Avenue and LaGrange Road and charged with driving too fast for conditions, driving under the influence and damaging property in an accident.

Dec. 8: First, about 1 a.m. Sunday, the police pulled over Jeffrey Patchett, 54, of 30 Cornwall Drive in Crete.
Patchett was stopped near the corner of Laraway and Nelson roads and taken into custody on charges of speeding, disobeying a traffic control device, driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license.

Patchett was carted off to the Will County jail.
Then, just a little less than 25 hours later, the police pulled over another alleged drunken driver.
Angelica Medina, 30, of 2912 Warren Dorris Drive in Joliet was stopped shortly before 2 a.m. near the junction of Lincoln Highway and Interstate 80.
Medina was charged with speeding, driving under the influence and driving with a revoked license.
Medina was released after posting bond.
Dec. 6: A Palos Heights man involved in an evening traffic accident was driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police.
On Friday, Dec. 6 at about 4:43 p.m. a traffic accident occurred in the 11800 block of Southwest Highway, police said. When officers arrived on the scene they noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the driver's breath, police said.
Ryan Flannigan, 22, of Palos Heights, was given field sobriety tests and failed, police said. A search of his vehicle also found a smoking pipe and marijuana, police said.
He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without insurance and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
Nov. 1: An Orland Park man is facing drunk driving charges after police saw him swerving between lanes, as did witnesses, according to an Orland Park police report.
Patrick J. Sweeney, 76 of the 13900 block of 88th Avenue in Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane use.
On Nov. 1, police were called about a black SUV “driving all over the roadway” at 143rd Street and LaGrange Road around 8:15 p.m. Witnesses said the SUV was changing lanes without signaling and swerving, while nearby cars honked at the vehicle to alert the driver, according to the report. Police then saw the SUV turn north on 88th Avenue from 143rd Street and pulled it over.
Sweeney, the driver, took several minutes to find his driver’s license, couldn’t find proof of insurance, slurred and mumbled while talking and his breath smelled like alcohol, police said.
Sweeney staggered and stumbled while walking toward the rear of the SUV, and an officer had to catch him to keep him from falling, police said. He then failed other field sobriety tests and refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
Dec. 1: An Oak Lawn man faces a long list of charges after police say he was involved in a hit-and-run accident while drunk.
On Saturday, Dec. 1, around 4:24 a.m. police officers heard squealing tires coming from the area of 108th and Cook Avenue. When they responded they observed a silver Nissan sedan attempt to to turn down the street, police said.
The driver was unable to complete the turn and hit a brick mailbox in the process, police said.
Driving the car was Yousif Sayes, 19, of the 5200 block of W. 109th St. Police spoke with the driver and noticed bloodshot eyes and that he appeared confused, police said.
Sayes told officers that he was coming home from a party and was out after his curfew, police said. He refused to take field sobriety tests or a breath test, police said. He was unable to produce his driver's license and gave officers Social Security Administration paperwork he thought was his insurance information, police said.
Officers reported that they also noticed a pint glass in his cup holder containing a chocolatey liquid that smelled of alcohol.
Sayes was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to produce a license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, transportation of open liquor and no village sticker.
