Stop at Arby's in Tinley Park Leads to Bank Card Fraud

A Midlothian resident's purchase at a fast-food restaurant led to a $335.44 charge on her bank card by an employee who later quit Arby's, police said.

A woman’s purchase at an Arby's restaurant in Tinley Park led to her bank card being used for another woman’s car payment, according to a police report.

While reviewing bank statements for her daughter, a Tinley Park resident noticed a large payment to Westlake Financial Services. The mother asked her daughter, a Midlothian resident, about the payment, and she said she knew nothing about it.

The daughter contacted her bank, and she was told that Robyn Joyce, of Chicago, manually entered a charge of $335.44 for a car payment, using the victim's card number, police said.

On Aug. 12, the victim called local businesses where she recently had made purchases with the bank card. She was told by an Arby's manager that Joyce had worked at the fast-food restaurant but quit on Aug. 11, the report said. The victim remembered that while purchasing food at that Arby's, 7220 W. 191st  St., it took an unusually long time for her card to process in the drive-thru.

Police contacted Arby's management but were not given any additional information about Joyce, the report said.
