Stray Gas Tanks, Woman Buys Mercedes With Fake Checks, and More

Stray Gas Tanks

A local man called to report that several propane and fuel cans had been left in a grassy area in the 18400 block of Thompson Court in Tinley Park. They included three steal propane tanks, seven plastic fuel cans and one steel fuel can.

Woman Buys Mercedes With Fake Checks

Employees at CarMax, 18800 Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park, called the cops to report that a woman who purchased a 2007 Mercedes C280 at the end of March did so using fraudulent checks. She included a $2,300 personal check when she bought the car, which was priced at $20,599. The case remained under investigation May 29.

Telephone Harassment 

Ricky J. Rovak, 28, of the 13800 block of Huseman Street in Cedar Creek, Ind., was arrested around 1:45 p.m. in Chicago on a warrant out of for telephone harassment.

SATURDAY, MAY 19

Mailbox Beheading

Police said that sometime between 7 p.m. May 18 and 11:30 a.m. May 19, someone knocked a mailbox off its post in the 17400 block of Castle Drive in . 

FRIDAY, MAY 18

Aggravated Assault

Police charged Travis A. Perry, 18, of the 16700 block of Hillside Place in Tinley Park with one felony count of aggravated assault. The charge stems from a 7 p.m. domestic dispute in which Perry pulled a knife, according to the police report.
