Stroller-Pushing Women Accused of Stuffing Diaper Bag With Merchandise

Police said a pair of women recently teamed up to steal nearly $400 worth of items from a local clothing store.

Police said a pair of women shoplifted this month at at local clothing store by filling a diaper bag with the store's merchandise.

Felicia R. Smith, 22, of the 3600 block of Union Avenue in Steger and Siadah D. Turner, 20, of the 3000 block of Murphy Road in Highland Park, were arrested around 8:50 p.m. Aug. 14 at Kohl's, 7500 191st St., Tinley Park.

Police said the two were pushing a baby stroller, as well as a cart filled with merchandise, through the store. They went into the dressing room and then left carrying a couple items they placed on the rack there. A witness said the diaper bag attached to the stiller looked "packed full," unlike when they entered the rooms. The witness, a loss prevention staff member, then entered the room the women were in and found tags and empty hangers, the report said.

They went to their car and the staff member approached them, asking that they reenter the store. They reportedly relinquished several items that were in Turner's diaper bag and in a purse that Smith was carrying. The items included two bottles of perfume, infant clothing and women's clothing totaling $397.01. Each was charged with one count of retail theft.
